The south shore Kildalton  distilleries; Ardbeg, Laphriog, and Lagavulin known for their peat and smoke.
Bowmore,  Caol ila,  Not as heavily peated as the first three, with a more fruity or fragrant smokiness.
The recently built Kilchoman farm distillery again moderately peat and smoke.
Bunnahabhain, slightly peated in style however the  Bruichladdich has a more experimental approach to peat and smoke creating a standard non peated, semi (Port Charlotte) and heavily peated Octomore.
Also the highly collectable Port Ellen long closed in 1983. Now a malting plant for the distilleries.
