The MacPhail’s Collection Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Bunnahabhain Distillery. HEAVILY PEATED.
Founded in 1881, Bunnahabhain, meaning ‘mouth of the river” shares its name with the village that grew up around it.
Although the distillery normally produces a milder style of Islay whisky, each year a quantity of whisky is distilled from heavily peated malt.
Bunnahabhain 8 year old Heavily Peated Malt Whisky Tasting Note:
Colour; Pale Gold.
Cask Type:Refill Sherry Butts.
Style: Light Islay Dram.
Nose (Neat). Salty and sweet with an underlying smokiness. Cured meat aromas with cooking apples and dried figs.
Palate (Neat). Smoky and sweet initially on the palate, with melon and apricot flavours and a milk chocolate edge.
Nose with Water; Sweet with hints of strawberry and mango. Salty sea air aroma with bonfire embers.
Palate With Water; Green apples with a touch of aniseed. Dried walnuts and cigar ash flavours linger.
Finish; Medium and smoky.
