According to the brand owners. Pickerings Gin is based on a old Bombay recipe. A handwritten note dated 17th July 1947, kept as a family secret, the formula came to light in 2013.
Founders, business partners and friends Marcus Pickering and Mathew Gammel have fine tuned the recipe to create a refreshingly smooth flavour full gin.
The 9 botanicals are: angelica, anise, cardamom, cloves, coriander, fennel, juniper, lemon, lime.
These are are accurately measured and added to the grain spirit in a 500 litre copper still.
Named Gert, this custom made still uses a Bain Marie heating system so the still gently simmer the ingredients fore best effect.
Pickerings Gin Tasting Notes;
Nose: Clean fresh pine derived from the juniper, with citrus notes.
Palate (neat): Strongly aromatic in the mouth. There are hints of liquorice and cinnamon, slightly nutty notes and a sweet lavender-like softness.
Finish: Refreshingly crisp and dry.
