Scapa 2005 Single Malt Whisky
This vintage Orkney Whisky is bottled by the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail as part of their “Distillery Labels” range.
Scapa 2005 Single Malt Whisky Tasting Notes:-
Nose Without Water : Sweet coconut, green apple, and milk chocolate aromas are complemented by a fresh lemon and lime edge.
Palate Without Water : Sweet and creamy with orange zest, dark chocolate, and a touch of toasted oak. Also a lingering hint of pepper on the finish.
Nose With Water : Sweet vanilla and ripe tropical fruits with a hint of cocoa powder. A fresh citrus edge is still present.
Palate With Water : Creamy, sweet and smooth. Also ripe banana, butterscotch, and chocolate flavours develop along with hints of lime. While a subtle menthol undertone brings up the finish.
Finish : Medium to long with a lingering menthol edge.
Gordon & MacPhail “Distillery Labels” Range
Gordon & MacPhail, while in partnership with a number of different distilleries were able to bottle under their own uniquely designed labels.
These labels were often used to “officially” bottle the whisky under license from the distillery. Therefore often regarded as distillery bottling.
Because of their continued trusted relationship with distillers, Gordon & MacPhail still bottle whiskies at various ages, strengths and vintages. All with their unique distillery label.
Distilleries included in the range are; Ardmore, Dallas Dhu (Closed), George Smith Glenlivet, Glen Grant, Glentauchers, Imperial, Inverleven, Linkwood, Longmorn, Miltonduff, Scapa, Strathisla.
While some of these distilleries did there own bottling, some relied almost almost exclusively on MacPhails’.
