Bain’s Cape Mountain whisky celebrates the craft of distilling high qaulity spirits, inspired by South African Pioneers.
This distinctive whisky is produced at the James Sedgwick Distillery, which dates back to the early 1850’s, situated at the foothills of The Bains Kloof Pass on the Berg River in Wellington.
The Master Distiller skillfully crafts this elegant Single Grain Whisky using Cape Mountain Water that flows over 850 million year old sandstone and indigenous fynbos. The whisky is then left to mature for years in fine oak casks.
Made from 100% South African grain, Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky, is South Africa’s first single grain whisky. Double-matured in specially selected oak casks, the whisky spends an initial three years maturing before being released from wood and then re-vatted for a further two years’ maturation to continue the distinctive extraction of flavours.
It shows an exceptional interaction between spirit and wood to produce a mix of toffee, floral and vanilla aromas and flavours with a hint of spice softened by sweet undertones. The result is a warm and extended mouthfeel with an exceptionally smooth finish.
