Glen Moray Elgin Classic Whisky (No Age Statement) Tasting Notes;
‘Shortbread, butterscotch and lemongrass’.
Colour: Light gold.
Nose: Without water the aroma is fragrant and lightly drying while showing lots of malty notes. The first impression is of butterscotch and shortbread, while fresh herbal/grassy notes follow. Lemon curd and meringue are also discovered in the background.
With water, malt and spices combine to reveal oatmeal in addition to a hint of freshly ground black pepper. Lemongrass, tea-tree oil and heather aromatics give the whisky a fragrance throughout.
Taste: The mouth-feel is lightly spiced yet warming and rather mouth watering. Malty toffee sweetness is present throughout, while offering a blackcurrants and a fragrant citrus lemongrass tang.
Finish: Shortbread, fresh herbal notes (lemongrass) and the sweet spiciness of ginger marmalade.
